
The Ghana Armed Forces now has their first female Brigadier General.
Colonel Constance Ama Emefa Edjeani – Afenu, now Brigadier General was at the Junior Division of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in the early 1990s.
She is currently the Deputy Military Adviser of the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations, New York, USA.

Women in Ghana enter the competitive military environment late compared to their male counterparts.
However, over the years, there has been a gradual increase in women holding combat jobs in the country.
Brigadier General Constance Ama Emefa Edjeani – Afenu’s position is expected to motivate and make it easier for women in the Ghana Armed Forces to advance.
