Sege SerCom XI crowned champions of maiden Senaky Community Gala

Sercom XI from Sege in the Ada West District chalked a special first after beating off competition from other eight teams to win the maiden edition of Senaky’s Community gala at the Senaky Sports Complex on Monday March 7, 2016 at Afiadenyigba.

Young sensational striker and recently called into the Ghana U-20 national team camp, Adebayor scored twice to hand Sercom XI a 2-0 triumph over Tama Wonders in the final to annex the trophy sponsored by Senaky.

The Sege based side pipped Stone FC from Nuhale 1-0 in their opening match of the one day tournament. Tall lanky striker Ismael was the scorer after receiving a through pass from the midfielders and quickly planted the ball into the net to give his side the sweet victory.

The most interesting aspect of their structure, however was that of their wing backs. Both Nathaniel Abayateye and Christopher Carlos were directed to patrol the inside of their respective spaces, supporting the possession through connections and offering to help the horizontal movement of the ball. The duo helped create triangles around the field as their strategic positioning in spaces proved beneficial.

Their second game was a little bit tougher when they played Freedom Fighters from Afiadenyigba and it ended 0-0 in the regulation and the tie was broken on penalties with three players each taking the spot kick. SerCom Eleven managed to score two as against the home team whose players played the ball into the hands of goalkeeper Joshua Okutu who was adjudged the best goalkeeper for his superlative performance throughout the game.

The grand finale witnessed Sercom Eleven defeating Tarma Wonders by 2-0 to run home with a giant trophy and a ball whiles Tarma Wonders settled for a ball for placing second. Young and upcoming striker Adolf Otiboe popularly known as Adebayor because of his tall stature drilled all the two goals to power Coach Victor Zarman men to clinch the ultimate.

They also used the gala tournament to officially outdoor their new jersey bought by Christopher Carlos who has been doing amazing working and also helping the team financially.
