Two people were injured in an accident which occurred on the newly asphalted road in Ada. The accident occurred around 6:45pm on Tuesday April 5, 2016. An Urvan bus with registration number GR 1527 S loaded with cow dung was heading to Ada Foah but parked on a portion of the newly constructed asphalt road at Ada Gberjigberse near the residence of the Paramount chief. A Volvo car with number GE 6616 X with driver Mr.Benjamin Narteh Sarpor moving in the same direction run into the urvan parked by the road. The Volvo driver, Mr. Sarpor and one other occupant at the rear seat have both sustained injuries and was rushed to the District Hospital in the Ada East District. The Urvan bus was identified to have neither back lights nor reflectors to send a signal to other road users and that according to an eye witness could have been the cause of the accident.
Barely a week ago, road contractors begun to cast asphalt on the Kasseh-Ada Foah road, from Big Ada to Luhue Bridge. Though work is not completed, minor accidents involving commercial motorbike operators popularly called “okada” have already been recorded. Due to absence of speed ramps along the Gberjigberse stretch, it is expected for possible road accidents to occur given the speed at which motorists ply that road. Residents and motorists call on authority to do whatever possible to prevent any accident going forward.
