Former Black Stars forward, Ibrahim Tanko, has said Ghanaian coaches can only land jobs in Europe once they pick up UEFA coaching certificates.
The former Cameroon assistant coach is worried over the number of Ghanaians working in Europe, despite their rich experience on the continent.
Apart from former Black Stars attacker, Otto Addo, who has been appointed the assistant coach of Nordsjaelland, no European club has hired any Ghanaian trainer.
However, Ghanaian trainers including Sellas Tetteh, Kwesi Appiah, David Duncan and Abdul Razak Karim have only managed to coach on the African continent.
Tanko, who holds a UEFA License A certificate, believes Ghanaian coaches will get jobs in Europe once they improve their coaching badges.
“It is all about qualification because normally I don’t know how many Ghanaian coaches have UEFA Pro or A licenses. In Europe if you don’t have such qualification you can’t coach. So the best thing for those who are playing now in Europe should be thinking of acquiring the UEFA certificate”, Tanko told Starr Sports.
Tanko has already shown interest in the Black Stars job if it becomes vacant.
