U.S President, Barack Obama’s limousine, The Beast, has broken down en route to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport.
The president was not in the car when it broke down, saving the White House the embarrassment.
Reports say The Beast, nicknamed as such for its ability to withstand all sorts of attacks, was mistakenly filled with diesel instead of petrol, forcing the engine to give up in the middle of the Tel Aviv highway.
President Obama who touched down two hours after the incident travelled to Jerusalem with a helicopter instead.
The car, which was intended to transport him around Jerusalem, was replaced by a substitute limousine being driven in from Jordan, which Mr Obama was to visit on Friday, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Moti Matmon, owner of a local tow-truck company, as reported by Daily Telegraph, said the US Consulate in Jerusalem called him at around 10am local time to ask him to recover the stricken vehicle.
“They told me that this was Obama’s car,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“They didn’t say what had happened to it. They just said it had got stuck. Only the mechanic was there when I arrived. The driver had left in another car. The whole thing was very funny.”
Mr Matmon said he transported the limo to a garage in Jerusalem, where it is now under repair.
