Ghanaian-born defender Timothy Fosu-Mensah is keeping his cards close to his chest as he decides on either representing Ghana or the Dutch national team.
The 18-year-old was invited for the Oranje’s friendlies against Ireland, Poland and Austria in June, but he failed to honour it due to injury, leaving him eligible to play for the four-time African champions.
“A groin problem was causing me too much problems. I told the [Netherlands] national team coach about it and also informed the doctor. I need to rest,” Fosu Mensah told Voetbal International.
“The coach has told me he’ll keep following me. I’m eighteen; I expect my chance still to come.”
“I was pleased with the invitation from Oranje. I know the coach continues to follow me.
“So is Ghana then still an option? You never know,” he added.
