The National Youth Authority (NYA) through the Ada East District Education directorate has distributed 500 footwears to school children in six deprived schools in the Ada-East district.
The beneficiary schools include Kopehem DA primary, Maranatha DA primary, Obane DA primary, Faith Korpey DA primary, Lufenya DA Primary, Korpehem DA Primary and Tojeng DA Primary.
The district coordinator for the National Youth Authority, Ms Janice Anaman said the authority realised that most school children in these deprived areas in the district were attending school barefooted in the rainy season and decided to solicit for support from the headquarters for the children.
She advised the school children to put on the footwears when going to school and not to keep them at home for occasions.
An official from the District Education directorate, Mr Nartey thanked Ms Janice Anaman and the National Youth Authority for the gesture and asked other organizations to come to the aid of such schools by constructing staff bungalows for teachers.
Headteachers of the beneficiary schools schools were thankful to the authority and promised to ensure that beneficiary students put on the footwears when attending school.
