kofi-akpaloooPresidential aspirants for the Independent People’s Party (IPP) Kofi Akpaloo have picked his nomination form from the Head Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) to contest in the December 7, election.

This makes him the first presidential candidate to pick a form since the EC opened nominations on Tuesday, September 13, 2016.

Presidential and parliamentary candidates are mandated to a filing fee of GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively but several political parties have raised concerns with the pricing.

Speaking to journalist after picking the form, Kofi Akpaloo noted that he is geared up to win the 2016 presidential elections adding that money cannot be a hindrance to his dream of becoming the next president of the Republic.

“We want people to know how serious we are, we will be the first party to submit our form. We are the only alternative now; everybody is going to vote for us. We are winning the elections and nothing is holding us back…. coming out with an idea has been a problem but money has never been a problem, so if you have good ideas, money will chase that idea,” he said.

He outlined some of the policies of his government as setting up an insurance fund which will cater for the need of children and the unemployed.

Mr. Akpaloo added that he will step up a 10 billion dollar job fund to solve unemployment.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs of the EC, Yusif Alhassan Ayuba has revealed that the filling of the nomination forms is expected to be done between September 29 and 30.
