Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has asked Charlotte Osei to give him five minutes of her time by Thursday 13th of October 2016 to iron out the issues which led to his disqualification from the presidential race.
“I am asking the chairperson of the EC and the returning officer to let me know by the end of Thursday this week when we can meet and deal with this matter positively…all I am asking is for is the chance for us to meet; five minutes of your time.”
Dr Nduom made this plea when he addressed the press after he was formally informed of his disqualification.
Dr Nduom said EC’s reasons for his disqualification are only administrative problem that can be resolved at a five-minute meeting.
“I believe that it is a simple administrative of clerical matter that can be resolved. However, if we cannot solve this matter simply, administratively, then we will take the legal route and go to court to seek satisfaction so that I can be on the ballot. That is the destination we want, to be on the ballot.”
On reasons why the PPP’s Papa Kwesi Nduom was disqualified, the EC Chair said: “The Commission is unable to accept Dr Nduom’s nomination because again the number of subscribers in his forms did not make the requirements of regulation 7(2) of CI 94.”
The EC revealed that one subscriber, Mr Richard Aseda, with voter ID number 7812003957 endorsed Dr Nduom’s forms in the Central region and again endorsed the same forms with the same ID number in the Volta region.
Dr Nduom plans to seek to seek legal redress if the EC refuses to meet with him by Thursday October 10 2016.
“I have had a full discussion with my lawyers and we have reviewed the document which was given to us today.
“All that is required is a five-minute discussion with the returning officer which is Charlotte Osei and the situation will be resolved and I will be cleared to contest this December 7, 2016, election as a presidential candidate.”
