The President of Apostolic Order Network, Apostle Joseph A. Jackson, has urged churches and pastors to stop teaching their congregation how to pray in the Holy Ghost language (tongues).
In an interview with hillgospelnews.com, Apostle Jackson criticized the practice and described it as non-biblical.
According to him “ministers of God can teach the tongues speaking as a topic for members to understand it clearly and also its significance but to teach them how to speak it is not biblical.
He continued, “It is a divine language given to man through the spirit of God (Holy Spirit).”
He said such practice is not demonic but rather both the pastors and the church member are lacking the knowledge of the word of God.
“Any practice against the word of God is a sin,” he said.
On whether there is the possibility of transferring evil spirits to the person being taught, Apostle Jackson said “We cannot say he is transferring evil spirit into the members since you have not detected the kind of spirits the teachers use. Some practice out of ignorance.”
“The speaking of the Holy Spirit is a free gift from God. One can receive the speaking of the tongue if there is the desire to speak in tongues.
“There are great ministers of God who do not speak in tongues but operate the gifts. It is not true that if one does not speak in tongues he is a sinner.”
He said Jesus Christ has given us the qualification of speaking in tongues in Mark 16: 15-18
