The CEO of Cribs to Homes Furniture, a carpentry and creative art company, Mr Peres Oduro-Ansah, has urged young people who have the passion to go into carpentry not to feel the profession is for school drop-outs but rather a noble one that can make them better people in future.
Mr Oduro-Ansah, who is popularly known as Mr Carpenter is 32 years of age and has a BSc in Agriculture from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
After five years of working in the banking sector in the area of financial operations and credit management and two years in the mining sector, Mr Carpenter believes that his real calling is carpentry.
“I have this desire to make things that will make people happy, I am good at almost anything I touch with my hands, I admire simple, beautiful and natural handmade things,” he added.

Truly, his products which have been displayed on his website, www.cribstohomes.com are so beautiful you might not believe they were made in Ghana.
“Because I know how to draw, it gives me joy that I’m able to blend my drawing skills in making creative stuff into useful things,” he said.
Even though he has some challenges such as getting raw materials on time, machinery and most of all delivery cost, he believes as a risk taker, he will surely make it as one of Ghana’s young and successful carpenters.
According to Mr Carpenter, he reads and does a lot of research on various topics before he sleeps and that helps him to produce the best products.
“Sometimes people don’t just understand that someone with a University degree should go into such a profession but when they see the kinds of furniture I make, they are amazed. In fact, carpentry is never for school dropouts,” he emphasised.
Mr Carpenter is grateful to Mr Kofi Poku, who agreed to train him and also continues to nurture him in the carpentry profession.
Cribs to Homes has been established as a Carpentry and Creative Arts Company registered under the laws of Ghana and based in Kumasi.
It is wholly Ghanaian owned. Their traditional business model is based on producing wood work furniture and anything wood with creativity and aesthetic purpose in mind.
