14 year old Afua Ansah Manukure of Ridge Church School has become the first Ghanaian student to qualify for the final stages of the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States of America.
Ansah by her qualification will join 45 other spellers to compete for the title of the best speller in Washington DC on Thursday afternoon.
13 year-old girl, Afua Ansaa Manukure from the Ridge Church School Ghana has been the only African country which participated at the global level but the coordinators of the Spelling Bee have revealed plans to extend it to Nigeria, Namibia and Kenya in subsequent years.
