The late MP for Abetifi, Peter Wiafe Peprah, will be laid to rest on July 23, 2016, his family has announced.

The mortal remains of the MP, according to the family, will be buried at Abetifi but the location they noted, is subject to change if Parliament so wishes.

An eleven-member delegation of the late MP’s family led by Dr. Charles Wireko Brobbey, made the announcement when they officially met with the First Deputy Speaker and leadership of Parliament to officially inform and invite them to the funeral ceremony of their beloved son.

Yaw Tenkorang Acheampong, Okyeame of the Peter Wiafe Peprah Family presented two bottles of schnapps as custom demands to the House.

Wake keeping of the late MP will held on July 22, 2016 at Abetifi.

Deputy Minority Leader, Dominic Nitiwul in a brief response told the family that they received the news of the sudden death of their colleague, Peter Wiafe Peprah, with shock.

He described the late MP as a man without controversy.

“He is a man without controversy. That is why he was able to mingle with both sides of the House without anybody complaining about him”, he noted.

Second deputy Majority Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim, on his part said the news of the death of Mr. Peprah came as a surprise to “all of us”.

He also described the late MP as someone who was a fine gentleman and could be approached by all.

“You will always see him with his earphones listening to music or fidgeting with his mobile phone. He left a legacy”, he added.

According to him what makes the death of Mr. Peprah so painful was the fact that he died in office.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Ebo Barton-Odro in a brief comment described the late MP as a “gentleman”.

He said they can only sympathize with the family because “it is God who gives and and the one who takes”.

He said the death of the MP brings to question the health of Members since they over work while in Parliament.

To that effect, he has requested that the Clerk puts in measures for Members go through periodic health screening in order to improve on their health status.

Hon. Barton-Odro then assured the family of Parliament’s commitment ensure that the the late MP is giving a befitting burial.
