Yakubu Abdul Razak has sworn to revive and place kickboxing at the very top of Ghanaian sports few months into his reign as President of World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) Ghana.
Mr. Razak, who boasts over a decade’s experience as promoter of the fistic sport, was rewarded for his dedication earlier this year following his appointment to the top post in this country by the Austria headquartered WKF.

“World Kickboxing Federation confirm herewith your official position as representative and president of WKF Ghana kickboxing federation. WKF head office is more than happy to have you as a member country in our WKF Africa continental federation,” stated an authoritative letter signed by WKF World Director / CEO, Fritz Exenberger.
The appointment by the world governing body further outlined the functions of Mr. Razak’s new position with all authority and power to negotiate with sponsors for events and to promote events under WKF rules and regulations, to appoint regular directors, to train referees until international ‘C’ licence and to sign contracts in the name of WKF in Ghana.
“As WKF Ghana President, you have explicit all needed authority to organize and promote local and international events, to negotiate with any TV media, sponsors, airlines and hotel groups,” the letter added.

Meanwhile Abdul Yakubu Razak has already settled down to work, collaborating for the successful ECOWAS kickboxing championship which took place in Accra last month and already has a national tournament planned for August.
“It’s a big honour and I feel great but at the same time humbled by this opportunity to lead the sport in Ghana. I promise to work hard to raise competition and patronage of kickboxing in this country,” Yakubu Abdul Razak pledged.
“There are a lot of world class talents in the sport and with the right support we can win more medals for Ghana. My top priority now is to get the WKF Ghana team to the world championships in Italy later this year,” he added.
