The youth of the Kudzragbe clan of Ada are demanding accountability from the leaders of the clan. They have accused the leaders of selling the clan lands indiscriminately and pocketing the money, at the expense ofthe development of the clan.
At a demonstration on Thursday March 3, 2016, the group which calls itself the king makers of the Kudzragbe Clan, accused their divisional chief, Nene Agidi Ahaviatse VI, the warlord, Asoatse Tsatsu Pediator IV, the secretary of the clan, Mr. Daniel Fierti and the chief of Atotorkope, Nene Ofoe Djadjagono, of dissipating their natural heritage.
Kudzragbe is one of the seven traditional divisions of the Ada state and is the one with much land than any of the other divisions.
Addressing the media, the spokesperson for the group, Moses Rockson Serwornu, disclosed that the sale of their lands started from 1993 but became worse since the year 2000. And yet the elders have done virtually nothing with those monies to develop the clan.
According to Mr. Serwornu, it is very difficult for members of the clan to get access to their own natural resource than it is for outsiders. He also expressed the worry that considering the rate at which the lands are being sold, their children are going to be strangers on their own land in the very near future.
He further called on their leaders to stop selling the lands and render account for their stewardship.
But the secretary of the clan, Mr. Fiertie has denied the allegations, saying the youth group was rather selling the lands without consulting the elders, which has resulted in a number of court cases between the elders and the group. Mr. Fiertie called on them to come to the elders to find an amicable way to resolve their differences and not making noise.
