Ada college of education emerged winners of this year’s 2016 edition of the inter collegiate games held at Akropong P.C.E formerly PTC. The ADACOE men coached by Maxwell Kpeglo and Ebenezer Kisseh progressed through a group of three teams, Accra and Kibi colleges of education to the grande finale. A second half goal from Ahortu Paul was enough to hand the Ada boys their opening win over KIBICOE. Vifa Destiny’s first half penalty and Silvester Dotse’s individual brilliant goal was all the ADACOE team needed to top their group for a semifinal clash with Mount Mary’s college of education. Ahortu Paul scored in the 15th minute of first half, and Joseph Adjei in the 80th minute, the MOMACANS equalized through a spot kick, the semifinals settled with a 2-1 in favour of ADACOE. Both ADACOE and ACCE clashed again at the grand finale which was decided on penalties after a goalless draw.
Ada college of education won 4-2 to lift this year’s trophy. The win has become a much needed revenge for the Ada team given that they lost 1-0 to the same opponent at the last year’s finals. Coach Maxwell Kpeglo a former assistant Ghana beach soccer team coach couldn’t hide his joy for the team’s performance through the tournament. Assistant coach Ebenezer M.Kisseh,a former student of the college, and 2014 Ghana gold medalist in all African universities games, Nairobi, expressed his joy and involvement in such success after winning bronze as a player ten years ago before lifting the trophy as an assistant coach. The college won gold in volleyball and bronze in handball also.
