What is going on in our community (Ada)?
People can’t sleep soundly at night, people fear to leave their homes on market days for fear of being robbed.
Many of our younger brothers and sisters indulge in many social vices like armed robbery, child prostitution, homosexuality and the list goes on.
What gets to me more is there are some unscrupulous adults who lure them into these acts and actually sponsor them .
Worse, there is a stratum of ill-disciplined policemen who connive and abet with the perpetuators of these crimes.
What’s trending now is they come in the form of agents to take unsuspecting young people abroad to work when in reality they’re going to be sold into slavery (modern day slavery). They have people who help them with the recruitment of these youths.
It’s time we rise up as fellow youth in high positions and erase the notion of “if I let my people know me, they’ll kill me,” for crying out loud we are in the 21st century.
I have come to the realization that these youth do not have people to look up to, people they’ll call role models.
Parental neglect, broken homes and polygamous marriages are but a few of the causes of these vices.
Our religious leaders are also slacking in their duties. They have to take up the mantle to teach and instill virtues into us rather than making us think church is all about miracles.
Are our teachers playing their roles? They are quite for fear of being molested by some parents because they disciplined their wards.
Arise oh youth of Ada, ny3 te je na (Ada for a new dawn is breaking).
Ny3 ha wa kpla wa gbadza n3 waafi wa hal3 (let’s gird up our loins).
Let’s come home to contribute to build our homeland, let’s not wait till it’s elections time before we come to our people to throw peanuts at them. The people want to feel your presence.
To our leaders, involve the youth in decision making. Give us chances to contribute quota.
