For the first time in the history of the Ada Asafotufiami festival, Sege, capital of Ada West will host part of the activities to mark the 80th Anniversary of the popular event.

This was revealed by the organizers during the launch of the festival at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra on Monday.

The event to be hosted in Sege is called Royal Feast. It is a special addition to the activities where the aged in society will get the opportunity to wine and dine with the paramount chief and elders of the Ada Community. Though is specially designed for the aged, the youth will however not be left out of the event.

Below is the full official line up of programmes and activities of the nine-day long 2017 Ada Asafotufiami festival:

Ada asafotu at 80DAY 1

Event:            Church Herald

Date:              Wednesday, August 2nd 2017

Time:              6:30pm

DAY 2

Event: General Clean-up of Whole Township, Homecoming and Bonfire Barbecue nite

Date: Thursday, August 3rd 2017

Time:  9:00am – 6:00pm

Activities: Float to Ada; converge at Ashaiman/Tema roundabout 12:00pm – 5:00pm, float continues to drive through Big Ada township to Ada Foah and back to the town/park.

Prayer session candle procession – Choir.

DAY 3

Event: Firing exercise and river rituals

Date: Friday, August 4th 2017

Time: 9:00am – 6: 00pm

Activities: Asafo companies and youth groups participate in a firing exercise at Apenya                                  and pay homage to chief from Lernobinya where the Paramount Chief leads whole crowd to river for final ritual.

DAY 4

Event: Grand Durbar

Date: Saturday, August 5th 2017

Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Activities: Grand Durbar at Asafotufiami Park, State dance (Heritage Highlife Ball), Aqua Safari Lawn (Ticketed Event).

General Dance by sound splash/TV Africa (free event for the general public).

DAY 5

Event:            Church Service

Date:              Sunday, August 6th 2017

Time:              9:00am – 6:00pm

Activities:      Church Service

 

DAY 6

Event: River Sports

Date: Monday, August 7th 2017

Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Activities: Royal walk and regatta – boat/canoe racing, beach games and music at Cocoloco, Beach games and music at Lolonyakope

Health Screening

 

DAY 7

Event: Sports

Date: Tuesday, August 8th 2017

Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Activities: Football match – Gala featuring 8 local teams, trophies presentations and Food Bazaar (Promasidor + Ideal Trade).

DAY 8

Event: Cultural display and party

Date: Wednesday, August 9th 2017

Time: 9:00am – 6:00pm

Activities: Various Cultural Displays

DAY 9

Event: Royal Feast
