Ada cannot be taken for granted again – Ada East District Assembly Chief Whip

I salute all well meaning people of Ada as I duly observe all protocol.

The election to confirm or otherwise the president’s nominee couldn’t come off as scheduled in the letter summoning all Hon members of the Ada East District Assembly signed by the Presiding Member.

Today, all honourable members were present at the stipulated venue ready to cast our votes but to no avail. The Electoral Commission, a constitutionally mandated body to conduct free, fair and transparent elections were also not present due to the illegal letter served them.

The Deputy Coordinating Director of the Ada East District Assembly is in a very tight corner for writing and circulating illegal information on the airwaves contrary to the provisions of the Act 936 which mandates only the Presiding Member to summon and call off any meeting at any time except an inaugural meeting where the seat of the PM is vacant.

This I termed, a rough tactics to get to the wealthy zone of self interest at the expense of the district. This really is a mercantile tactics to swerve the people of Ada but you lie, education is the key and really at play here. The Deputy District Coordinating Director (DDCD) is likely to face legal actions for his illegal acts, if honourable members are not well convinced with the actions that may be taken by Local Government minister and her regional minister.

Hon A.L Akrofi, the current Ada West District Chief Executive, politely and passionately appealed to honourable members to bury the hatchet and condemned the action of the DDCD as unconstitutional which may have legal implications.

It is important to know that, there was no letter from the RCC director directing him to postpone any meeting, rather he acted at will because of personal interest if not I never expected him (DDCD) with his rich experience in local government administration to act this illegal way knowing the legal implications, and even if there is, does the RCC – Regional Coordinating Council’s director have the constitutional mandate to do that?

The days when Ada used to be taken for granted are far gone and this current Assembly members are not succumbing to any illegal acts that will further deepen progressive healing of the cancerous wounds of Ada.

We are waiting to hear any positive outcome of today’s deliberation of the unconstitutional act of the DDCD of our dear district for the superiors as promised.

The AEDA membership constitute teachers in majority, businessmen, contractors, accountants and many others who do not easily give in to any intimidation because we read a lot especially our laws that govern us.

Let’s rekindle the dying hope of Ada. There is no freedom without sacrifice.
