Former Black Satellites forward, Adolf Otibo was back at his best on Sunday afternoon, providing the assist for his side’s opening goal before scoring the second himself in a 3-1 victory for Guadalajara against Atletico Tomelloso in the Tercera Division Group 18 of Spanish league football.
Otibo, on loan from La Liga side, Leganes has impressed in the 9-match old 2018/19 season for Guadalajara having scored twice on debut and maintaining a regular starting place as he amasses vital experience to return to the top flight side next season. Sunday was another occassion for the Ghanaian as he set his side up for a first victory in 6 games by dummying a few Tomelloso players before passing to an unmarked teammate to tap in few minutes into the second half following a goalless first half.
Otibo was then on hand a few minutes later to score his own third goal of the season and first since the opening day to put Guadalajara 2-0 up which was quickly followed by a third five minutes later for a comfortable lead which rendered Tomelosso’s late strike a mere consolation as the hosts took home all three points at the Estadio Pedro Escartin.
The youngster who once earned a call-up to the Ghana national U-20 camp two years ago whilst playing for little known Okor Nowomi FC based in Sege, capital of the Ada West District in the Greater Accra Region, remains upbeat about his progress despite Guadalajara’s relatively inconsistent form which has seen them record just one win in 7 games before yesterday, the victory over Tomelloso improving their points tally to 11 from a possible 27.
“I am very happy to be on the scoresheet again, I’m playing in midfield and not in attack so it has affected my goals but I think I’m also becoming an all-round player which in not bad at all. My preferred position is at the top of the attack but my coach here thinks he needs me in the middle and I’m just too glad to give my all,” Adolf Otibo told Adacommunityonline.com from his Spain base.
“It’s all going well, I play every week and I’m enjoyng the experience very much. The ultimate target is to improve and hopefully I can return to Leganes at the end of the season a much better player. I can’t wait to play in La liga,” Young Otibo added.
